鼾聲雷動不只是影響自己與家人的睡眠品質,更可能和癌症有關。最近一項哈佛大學調查報告指出,過胖且睡覺時會打鼾的人比起其他人,有更高的機率會得「大腸癌」。

所謂「呼吸中止症」,即一個晚上若有30次以上「呼吸停止10秒以上」的狀態,或是一小時出現5次以上呼吸中止的人,當呼吸中止時,空氣難以通過狹窄的喉嚨,因此也容易罹患各種惡性的疾病,威脅生命。除了肥胖以外,亞洲人大多屬於小臉型,即使體型不肥胖但仍會容易發生打鼾、睡眠時呼吸中止症。
